A Relaxing Stay in Squamish, British Columbia

Located just a short drive off highway 99 in Squamish, B.C., is a home that felt cozier than most hotels I’ve stayed in. It had a private entrance, cedar cladding accents, a gas fireplace, and big windows with a view of snow-capped hills.

This home goes by the name Mountain Lovers’ Retreat, and is an Airbnb listing run by a couple of local Squamish residents, Lina and Julien.

Why Squamish

Initially, I chose their home due to its close proximity to Whistler. I wanted to stay somewhere more affordable than Whistler Village, but didn’t want to be as far away as Vancouver. Lina and Julien’s home turned out to be the perfect location for me, as Squamish is only about an hour drive from Whistler.

After spending a couple of nights there though, I would definitely return to their Airbnb simply to relax and enjoy the nature around Squamish.

My Review of Mountain Lovers’ Retreat

What I really appreciated from my visit, was Lina and Julien’s thoughtful planning in the design of the suite, and overall guest experience. Their home is set up in a way that allowed me to have complete privacy, while still feeling like they were close enough to reach in case I needed something.

In addition to the private entrance, I was also able to choose my own lock code to the suite. This made arriving and getting settled in hassle-free, and didn’t involve waking up my hosts in the middle of the night (something I was worried about while stuck in Seattle traffic). The suite itself is also completely shut off from Lina and Julien’s living space, so I never felt like I was intruding on them.

Large, spacious counter-tops at this Airbnb in Squamish

Details wise, Lina and Julien thought of everything. From the little chocolates on my pillows, to the Squamish guidebook carefully placed on the counter, it was easy to forget I was staying in an Airbnb and not a fancy hotel somewhere. The upside of it being an Airbnb though, is I got killer recommendations of where to eat and how to spend my time in Squamish.

Lina and Julien are two people who really love the area they live in, and are excited about sharing it with others. Because of them, I added Shannon Falls to my plans, and ended up eating at a restaurant with one of the best views in town!
